NCAA Division I Volleyball - 1st Week of October
What Do You know about upsets?
What it means for the upsetter and the upsetty(?)
Upsetter
- A win is a win is a win
- Improve RPI (especially if it is a win away from home)
- Increase team confidence
- Finding what works for your players
- Building momentum
Upsetty
- A loss
- Decrease RPI
- Hurts team confidence
- Learning player weaknesses
- Rebuilding confidence
When does an upset means less?
- If you are beating an injured opponent
o And even then, for the upsetter – you got the win and proved that you are able to execute a game plan
o For the upsetty – if you are dealing with long term injuries you may be a little worried. But if you have a couple short term injuries then the worry should dissipate
